What I Like
The Giant Rincon and Rincon Disc were well-designed bikes with a number of features that we enjoyed. There's even more to admire about the 2018 Rincon Disc, and more performance for the rider to enjoy, thanks to recent improvements.
The major modification for the Rincon Disc is the larger tires, which not only enhanced performance and efficiency but also assisted with handling and stability. If your existing bike isn't up to par, the Rincon Disc could be a good replacement.
These are some of the things that stuck out the most after looking at both the Rincon and the Rincon Disc:
- Well designed, with eye catching style
- 27.5” Tires with great tread (Rincon Disc 2018)
- Braking system is efficient, and has good stoppage
- Affordable, entry level MTB
- Easily upgradeable components
What I Don’t Like
The Rincon and Rincon Disc are both well designed, but there are a few areas where they may be improved. Because of the shifter positioning modification, some riders are reaching farther than they'd want, and many riders believe that their bike's components need to be improved before they can receive the performance they want.
Despite the precise shifters on both versions, there have been occasional troubles with shifting. Others complain that the handlebar grips aren't strong enough, and that the entire package is too hefty.
Given that this is an entry-level bike, some of these features are expected, but here are the ones that jumped out to us the most:
- The saddle on the Rincon Disc is a little hard
- Shifter placement is slightly far from the handlebars
- For better performance, components will need to be upgraded
- Feels a little heavy overall to most riders
- Users report some issues shifting with the Rincon
- Grips could be more durable
Buying Advice
This mountain bike is ideal for a beginner mountain cyclist or an enthusiast looking for a low-cost ride. The 2018 Rincon Disc's components and design have been changed, and the larger wheel size allows riders to go faster and get more performance out of each ride.
The Rincon Disc may also be easily upgraded, so you can get started riding and see whatever upgrades best suit your needs for a reasonable price. Even without improvements, the Rincon Disc delivers outstanding performance, and many riders rave about it.
The Rincon or Rincon Disc would be an excellent pick if you're searching for an entry-level mountain bike that can tackle rough terrain and can be updated to grow with you.
Conclusion
Overall, the Rincon and Rincon Disc provide a high-quality mountain bike with many of amenities at a reasonable price. Many riders like the versatility, performance, and durability that this bike provides.
The Rincon Disc has seen multiple modifications, and many riders are opting for the newer version with the newest components before making any alterations.
